What you'll be able to do

• Describe SS7 architecture: SSP/STP/SCP roles, link types A-F, linksets and route sets, ANSI 8-8-8 vs ITU 3-8-3 point codes.
• Read ISUP messages byte by byte: IAM, ACM, ANM, REL, RLC; identify Q.850 cause codes.
• Map Q.850 causes to SIP via RFC 3398, with RFC 3326 Reason header preserving the original.
• Identify SIGTRAN adaptation layer (M2PA, M3UA, etc.) from a PCAP; diagnose ASP-stuck-INACTIVE.
• Decode SIP-T (application/ISUP) in Wireshark.
• Trace ISDN PRI Q.921/Q.931 signalling and ISDN-to-SIP gateway translation.
• Recognise MGCP and Megaco/H.248 master/slave gateway-control.
• Pass the SIP-301 portion of the CCVE exam.
